Every year, Ethisphere Institute compiles a list of companies that they determine to be the "most ethical" businesses. They judge this based on criteria, including what the company's official policies are, how well those policies are followed, how the company impacts the environment and community, and the company's reputation.

It's a stringent process, and only companies that make top scored in all categories are chosen. That's why, out of all the companies in the world, across industry sectors, only 131 were named on the 2016 list of World’s Most Ethical Companies®.

Among them, Ford was the only automaker.

"Ford understands that trust is the cornerstone of everything it does," says Ethisphere's CEO, Timothy Erblich, "and their commitment to being an active part of a global community helps explain why they are the only automaker Ethisphere has recognized every year since 2010. Being honored for the seventh time is no small achievement. Congratulations to everyone at Ford for being recognized."
