Whenever a new version of a favorite model arrives—especially one such as the Ford Raptor—there are always going to be inevitable comparisons to whatever came before. In the case of the second generation Raptor, the main difference is a whole lot of weight loss and a slightly smaller, albeit more powerful engine. But which one takes the cake?
While an enthusiast would tell you that a 2014 Raptor with the 6.2-liter V8 is superior, not everyone would agree. The outgoing pickup offered 411 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque, making it no slouch by any stretch. The 2017 model, on the other hand, on top of being hundreds of pounds lighter, makes 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. To see the two models go head to head, check out the video above.
There’s no better way to get to know a new Ford model than to try it on for yourself. If you’re on the market, we invite you to stop by our Rexburg, ID location and take one for a test drive!
