Ford’s Escape is a compact SUV that works as an excellent in-town car while also offering plenty of capability features for when drivers are feeling a little more adventurous. An optional all-wheel drive delivers advanced stability for slippery roads and shifting gravel surfaces, while the 17-inch wheels are poised to take on smooth highways or unpaved trails.
The Escape’s engine delivers up to 250 horsepower, depending upon whether the driver chooses the 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5-liter option. The 2.5-liter engine gives 280 pound-feet of torque, excellent for harnessing power in the lower gears when towing. A tow rating of up to 3,500 pounds allows drivers to load a trailer with ATVs or personal watercraft for a weekend of fun.
An electronic traction control system keeps the Escape agile and prepared for changing road conditions. The eight-speed automatic transmission offers plenty of nuance in stop and go traffic.
